More Fall Treats for October

MUMS

FAN

I'm sure Judy meant Ceiling fan when she drew up the block above, but I'm going to claim it for Football. The games are a serious armchair activity at our house on Sundays. It's often a day of bonding and comradery for my husband and 5 year old grandson. It is also my day to sit and stitch - stopping for an occasional "Hi Five", Fist bump or hug from little Alex. The little scroll work in the middle of this block could represent any one of those sweet little gestures.

I've also been collecting the "Let it Snow" block patterns this year by Buttermilk Basin. Nearly all of the blocks are prepped and ready to add the final embellishments. I'm taking this project to my Quilt Retreat next week, hoping to finish it there.

I'm determined to complete this little quilt before the first Snowflake falls.

Another Quilting Adventure....

SALT and PEPPER

This block really spoke to me last week as I reflected on and prayed for the victims of Hurricane Matthew. The storm caused such devastation to so many people.

HURRICANE

On Friday I had the pleasure of attending a very special Quilt Exhibit with dear friends at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. Pictures were not permitted - but the exhibit was truly an amazing collection of Art quilts that depict significant stories of African American history! If you live in Virginia or plan on visiting within the next couple months - I HIGHLY recommend you take in this amazing collection of quilts!

It's mid-October - that means it's Show & Tell time over at the SVBAQ Sew Along blog.
There are a LOT of beautiful block pictures posted.
You can find them all by clicking HERE

Welcome October!

WAITING FOR LIFE

SQUARE DANCE

I look forward to the first week of each month.
I get to spend quality time with my very special friends and Bee sisters.
This month we took a trip to the DAR Museum in DC.

Then off to lunch and shopping at a couple wonderful quilt shops.
No matter what we do each month, it's always a fun and memorable day.

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone effected by Hurricane Matthew!

Anniversary Block and a month of Treats

This is my October block for the Shenandoah Valley Botanical sew along.
The name of the block is Kings Crown.
This month marks the ONE year anniversary of the SVBAQ Sew Along!
Time sure flies when you are having a wonderful time!

LIZARD

This was my final Dutch Treat block for September.
Despite a busy month, I managed to complete one block per week.

Wishing you a Happy and Stitch filled start to October!
