More Treat blocks and Special Deliveries

SPACE INVADERS

SEPARATE TABLES

These are the last 2 blocks I completed for January.
The goal - complete 8 blocks per month in 2016.
I'm pleased that I finished 10... off to a good start!

I've been pretty miserable dealing with the flu this week.
Thankfully a couple of special treats arrived in the mail to cheer me up!
On Friday this beautiful fat eighth bundle called LARKSPUR (3 Sisters for Moda) arrived from Green Fairy Quilts.

And a VERY special delivery arrived from Japan!

The pattern arrived in less than a week. The cover picture is Large (10" x 14")
The block patterns are full size, include quilting designs and are written in English. I learned about this pattern from Ingrid of Supergoof Quilts ... one of my favorite Bloggers.

What a fabulous ending to my week and the month of January!

The next block of the Shenandoah Valley Botanical Album sew along will be revealed tomorrow. (February 1st) You will find the details HERE.

The Big Leap - Jelly Roll sew along for February

It's a Leap Year and what better way to celebrate than to make a quick to piece quilt to commemorate the occasion? I'm calling this quilt The Big Leap.
It is a variation of the pattern called Triple Irish Chain.
Follow along each week as I demonstrate time saving methods for chain piecing, cutting, pressing & sewing your BIG blocks and quilt together.
To make this 82" x 82" quilt you will need:
1 Jelly roll fabric bundle and 5 1/2 yards of contrasting/solid background fabric.

Want to make a smaller quilt??        This version is 56" x 56".  To make this variation you will need a bit more than half a jelly roll bundle and  3 1/2 yards of a background fabric.

SCHEDULE and Specifics.... Each Sunday during the month of February I will post a new set of instructions and a Show & Tell link up.
Look for these on February 7, 14, 21 and 28.
The goal is to have our quilt tops completed by February 29th - LEAP DAY! I look forward to sharing The Big Leap with you!

Several blocks to share this week

Tomorrow I will be linking up to the mid month Show & Tell for the Shenandoah Valley Botanical sew along. This is my Red & Taupe version of the Star in the East block. I created the crossing stems by fussy cutting a striped and dotty print fabric.

Also for the week, I've completed 2 more Dutch Treat blocks:

PINWHEEL

RIOT of GROWTH

Welcoming in 2016

We welcomed in the New Year with these little guys.
My grandson's birthday is New Year's Eve and he asked Nana to make him some little boys that could play in his Lego buildings.

These fully posable little dolls range in size: 1 inch, one and a half inch and the tallest at just 2 inches. They are made from chenille stems, wooden beads, embroidery floss, wool roving for hair and wool felt for clothing. It was a nice little craft project for me to end the year with and my grandson is very pleased with how they turned out.

My New Year's resolution this year is to relax and savor the Journey!

One journey in particular that I'm excited about is continuing on with the Shenandoah Valley Botanical Album sew along. It's a privilege to work with Dawn and The Virginia Quilt Museum as we share Esther Blair Matthew's historic quilt and story.

Just one block a month - a perfect project to relax and enjoy the rhythm of stitching!

Have you seen the block for January yet? It's called "Star in the East".
Dawns version (above) is a real beauty! To learn more about it and also see the original block click HERE.
Welcome to the Newcomers starting this month! That's the beauty of this Quilt Study and sew along. You can join in any time and work at your own pace.
Whether you are a Cheerleader or a Participant - all are welcome!

No big list of projects to formally announce for the year, but I do have a few Fun activities up my sleeve for 2016! Including a couple of free "Quick yet Classic" sew alongs that I will host. (you may want to dust off those jelly rolls on your shelf)

Wishing you all a very Productive, Creative, Healthy and Happy New Year!
