My July Redwork Finish

Well here is Miss July - complete with her pieced block borders. I've named the sash & block design that surrounds my redwork block "Rockets Red Glare".

Speaking of RED..... I'm really excited about a new Red & White applique' project that I will start working on in August. The quilt pattern by Susan Garman is called Sarah's Revival.

Here are the fabrics I picked up at my local quilt shop this past weekend. At first, I considered using assorted red Civil War fabrics. But once I saw how intricate the blocks were, I decided batiks would work best for me.

No time frames or pressure deadlines with this project. I may only complete one or 2 blocks a month while watching some evening television. Whatever my progress, I'll be pleased & content to be stitching for the JOY of the process.

A few Jane Jewels

Here are a few of my favorite little Jane blocks I completed for last months local Dear Jane Club. This month we officially toppled the half-way mark for our Club program. It's really exciting to see all the wonderful blocks piling up.

Now that I finally decided on a fabric - it's time to start sashing these little gems. (but that will be saved for a later post)

Heirloom Machine Applique'

This technique is also referred to as Invisible Machine Applique'.

I'm teaching a workshop on this form of applique' at Quilter's Corner in August. This block is one of several "sample" pieces I've made for show & tell. What I love about this method of machine applique' is that it doesn't involve raw edges or fusible web. It has the look and feel of needle turn applique'. I love to do hand applique' work - but there are only so many hours in a day.

During August and September, I will begin sharing with you a series of BOM applique' projects that I've commmitted to thru the end of 2013. 2 of these projects will be hand applique' work and 2 will be sewn via heirloom Machine Applique'. It will be fun to see if you can tell which method I used in each quilt.

On to another topic: Here are the Easy Peasy T Blocks I've made for Month #3 of our Vintage Rouge Sew-along. There are 20 T Blocks to make this month for the quilt.

Happy Quilting!
