June Finish - redwork

Picking out my sashing design for this month's block was fairly easy - I chose a simple variation of a pattern called Garden Path.

Speaking of Gardens.... Hubby introduced our 1 year old grandson to the garden hose earlier this month. It was FUN at first sight!

Diamond Janes - see how they sparkle!

Our local DJ quilt club has been working on a "Diamonds" theme this past month. These are a few of my tiny little Modern Jane blocks. Some of these blocks were pretty tricky. One in particular C7 looked pretty harmless - but was challenging to assemble due to all the tiny pieces and 60 degree angles.

Here is my civil war version of this block:

And this was my favorite block this month:

We begin a new month of blocks next Monday. I think that most students will be happy to hear that we are done with the diamonds and will be back to paper-piecing again. (grin)

Blocks for Month 2 of Vintage Rouge

I really enjoyed making the blocks for Month #2.

They are pieced and applique'd blocks that finish at 10". There are 4 of these blocks to make for this month's portion of our Vintage Rouge BOM sew-along.

I chose to assemble mine using a method called Heirloom Machine Applique'. (a.k.a. invisible machine applique') The blocks finished really soft and have the look and feel of Hand Applique'.

Here is a close up portion of block to show you the stitches.

(shown slightly larger than actual size)

Here is the back of the block:

And another picture I took just before trimming the block down.

June Redwork block

It's hard to believe we are half-way thru the year already! I love the month of June. Tending the vegetable garden and watching the hummingbirds flit about the flowering shrubs is one of my favorite past times.

I'll have lots of show & tell on my blog this month. Projects I'm working on are Dear Jane(civil war & modern), Vintage Rouge, Calendar Girls(redwork) and 2 applique' projects - Evening Blooms & Batchelor Buttons.

Wishing everyone a Happy & Productive June!
