Stonefields & Special Deliveries in February

February was a month filled with surprises here in northern VA.
Usually the coldest time of winter, this year it's been warm with rain showers. Spring like weather has even fooled mother nature.
Cherry trees in my neighborhood are blooming 6 weeks early.

The mailman also brought me a couple surprise deliveries...
Wendy Reed, The Constant Quilter gifted me with a package of 200 different fabric charms in 1930's reproduction. Many of these will be used in my Stonefields quilt. Thank you Wendy, I can't wait to use these fabulous fabrics!

And I won a WIPS be Gone drawing at Angie's - A Quilting Readers Garden. Angie sent me this Beautiful book and I already found a quilt that I would love to make. Thank you Angie!

Here are my final 6" Stonefields blocks for February....

Bordered Hexagons, block 1

February Treats & Stonefield starts

HEART

CHECKERS

Here are my first 3 blocks of Stonefields for Month 3.
The designer named this block "O is for Oscar".
I have nicknames of my own for each of these blocks. (grin)

WASH DAY

This is really all I have to show for last week.
I've been working on my Botanical blocks and a couple samples for a fun class I will be teaching this Thursday. (I'll share more about this on Friday)

Final Stonefield blocks for Month 1

I was able to eek out the last 5 blocks of my Stonefields before the month ended.
A head cold this week has delayed me from posting them here until now.
You can click on any pictures to enlarge them if you wish.

THE ORANGE PEEL

WILLIE'S BIRTHDAY

The last block I created is perhaps the most endearing block I will make for this quilt. It is dedicated to my precious grandson Alex. He recently turned 6 years old.

He was very excited to turn 6 and kept telling me he's waited a very long time for this birthday. When I asked him what made turning 6 so special his reply was simple... "I can finally join the Boy Scouts".
This is for my sweet Alex...soon to be a Cub/Boy Scout.

POSY POT

On a different note - I'm going to be teaching a class soon on Reverse Applique'.
Below is a Shop sample I created of the project that Students will be working on.
This is the same needle turn method I use to create my Dutch Treat blocks.
(I think this will become a Spring Pillow for my favorite sofa)
