July's 4th Sunday Finish

My evening stitch project this past week was Dutch Treat.
I had been warned about the teeny windows of the School house block.
They were indeed a challenge for me. Barely 1/4" in size, the basting stitches didn't hold.

As you can see - my windows are all crooked. (sigh)
Frustrated with the results, I might remove them and embroider the windows on, at a later date. I'm still very pleased with the process and enjoy each of these little blocks.

Now it's time to pull out my July block for Benjamin Biggs.
The block will seem Gigantic next to these little "treats".

every quilt tells a story.....

  1. I bought the book a long time ago and when I realized how small the blocks are, I put it back on the shelf for another day. Then I started on Dear Jane and found out how easy it is to wrk on the small blocks. Maybe one day, but my last 2 Ben Biggs blocks are prepped and still sitting waiting their turn for machine applique.

  3. Those are some very small windows! I set my Dutch Treat aside awhile ago when I realized the white fabric I was using was too course and fell apart. It would never have worked for those windows! The sail boat looks great and I love the blue and green hand dyes you are using. Well done!, looking forward to seeing your BB blocks. Enjoy your week
