Fast & Fun Quilt Project!

While at my local quilt shop recently, I was asked if I'd be interested in sewing together a shop sample quilt.
I was told it would be fast & easy to make and it definitely was.
Here is a picture of it being held up on the steps in front of Kelly Ann's Quilt shop .

Just look at this adorable fabric line, it's called Owl Wonderful. These cheerful prints and colors remind me of the Folk Art movement of the late 60's and early 70's. Owls were all the rage back then too.

The pattern is called Step Up from the Think Fast book by Swirly Girls Design. There are directions to make this in 4 sizes Lap to King. The one I made is a 62" x 72" Lap size quilt.

I made this entire quilt top in just 2 afternoons.
My 2 year old grandson kept pointing to the border fabric saying "Hoo Owz" Nana "Hoo Owz".
Needless to say after that - he will be receiving an Owl quilt from Nana. (grin)

If you are interested in a Kit to make this quilt you can purchase it from Kelly Ann here: OWL KIT

Is anyone else working on a quick and easy summer project right now? I'd love to hear about it!

every quilt tells a story...

  3. This fabric really made up a cute quilt. Your grandkid definitely deserves a hoot owz quilt. The fabric reminds me of my junior high era. So rarely 60s. 1960 not 1860. Lol

  5. Ok...I know those are owls but the colors and style reminded me of the Partridge Family :)

  6. Great quilt top, I love the owls fabric. You work fast, one top in two afternoons!!!
At the moment I'm working on Willow weave, flipping the Woven BAND row over. I didn't notice until all was sewn together that I have to flip it. But it is all done now so it is the border to think of among many other things:-)
