I Love this book and have admired 2 of the quilt projects inside for quite some time. When I saw the new Bridgeport fabric collection by Jo Morton I knew it was time to begin my Evening Blooms quilt. I'll be making it slightly different from the one in the book (shown below) I'm not good at scrappy unless it's "organized" lol. I'm opting for a simpler scallop border instead of the dresden border. As you can see in the next picture - my background choices for this quilt are MUCH more subtle too: These are the Red/Black/Brown fabrics I've chosen from the collection: I'm making a couple of Shop Sample blocks from this pattern using a method called Invisible Machine applique'. My dear friend Sue has agreed to make this quilt and will be using this same method of machine applique'.
I'm still on the fence and leaning toward completing my own blocks by hand. The pieces are so big & easy to turn that they shouldn't take a lot of time to complete.
I am SO excited - the shop sample kit came in for this gorgeous quilt and I get to sew it! This beautiful BOM program rolls out in May and Tiffany (the shop owner)of Quilter's Corner is already taking sign up's for the Club.
What I love about this Block of the Month program is that it only runs for 6 Months (May thru Oct) short enough for folks to have the top sewn & quilted for Christmas. And the club comes with a BONUS Table Runner project too!
I'm going to host an Online Sew-a-Long for this BOM quilt starting in May. I will have a SAL Button posted to the right side of my blog) Anyone can sign up for the free Sew-Along (regardless where you purchased your kit) But here is a special bonus - If you purchase your kit thru Tiffany's shop HERE and enter the discount code AUNTREEN - then Tiffany will include a $20 Gift certificate in with your first month's shipment. This gift certificate can be applied toward any online purchase thru her shop.

Hi friends, Just wanted to announce that my new blog documenting a 13 month journey toward the completion of my Modern Jane quilt is being launched today. Whether you are just starting a Jane quilt or looking to finish one within the next 13 months this blog will hopefully offer you inspiration/motivation.
I will still continue posting pictures of my Civil War Jane blocks here.
My name is Doreen aka Aunt Reen.
I've been a passionate quilter for 30+ years.
I love all aspects of quilting and find great joy in teaching and in learning from other Quilters. I am especially fond of sewing small scale quilt blocks and also enjoy applique'.
