These are the blocks I've created so far for Cheryl's 1880's Sampler sew-along.
At first I thought I would try to replicate the fabric colors in the original quilt as closely as possible. After laying out the first 9 blocks - I changed my mind.
I love Jo Morton fabrics and have decided to add more warmth to some of these blocks. I've chosen some FQ's in spicy tones of nutmeg, mustard & pumpkin.
Below is a picture of my 4 newly completed blocks in the series. In Steps to the Altar - I've added a dash of pumpkin and really love how warm the block looks.

every quilt tells a story...

Just beautiful Doreen ! WOW! Nutmeg , mustard & pumpkin Hmmmmmmm Your quilt blocks are really coming along !
ReplyDeleteOh, these do warm it up! Have you given thought to the color you will use for the sashing...still the pink or something from the new colors? I also love to make something my own!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing a great job on the blocks. I made the first two and just haven't had time for any more. I am doing so much applique.
ReplyDeleteThese all looks so perfectly pieced. I'm in awe. And someday you need to help be figure out how to post a progress chart like you have for the CW blocks. I saw instructions once somewhere but never could get it to work.
ReplyDeleteWow Doreen, you are a machine, all those blocks made as well as the CW ones. I like your colour choices, the names make me think of pumpkin soup.
ReplyDeleteI love the new colours you have added!!! I love the scrappy look anyway! The blocks look really good together!!!
